🥤 SIPSMAN COMMUNIQUE: March 2026
Nü Website • Thomas Dollbaum • POP Montréal • Lily Seabird • Brown Horse
I’m sprucin’ over here—everything I learned about coding began with my MySpace page. Yes I just turned 42 how can you tell. Bigups to Cargo for having the best customer service.
Mardi Gras is over and I have fulfilled my previously mentioned dream of dressing up like a sleeve of saltines. Folks would come up to me and say “oh you have to meet my friend, she’s jam” or “he’s oysters.” Onwards:
THOMAS DOLLBAUM
Released Tuesday alongside a heartfelt music video shot in the Mississippi Delta by ALLUVIAL, “Dozen Roses” is the first song from Dollbaum’s mighty new album Birds of Paradise. It was tracked at Dial Back Sound with producer/engineer Clay Jones, and Dollbaum was backed by Nick Corson (one half of Sips-fam The Convenience), Josh Halper, and Jake Lenderman, who learned and recorded the thing in just four days. Out May 22 via Dear Life—the first 100 preorders of the Roseate Spoonbill Pink Vinyl LP get a free Dollbaum carpenter’s pencil. Catch the fella on tour right now with Esther Rose and next month with Fust and Merce Lemon.
POP MONTRÉAL
SXSW is in bloom once again, and thank god “POP” shows up with their gang of quality artists from the city of Montréal, the province of Quebec, and the country of Canada. This year is no different: five acts, all killer, no filler, and it’s going down tomorrow nite (Mar 13) at Swan Dive. RSVP, press play here, see you there.
LILY SEABIRD
A big full band spring tour starts tonight with a pair of shows in Ohio (joined by homestate heroes villagerrr), followed by a big Saturday night blowout at The Blue Room in Nashville with Willa Mae and hemlock. Then down to TommyFest 2 in Austin, then up to Treefort in Idaho, then down the west coast with Eliza McLamb and back east via Chicago. Phew! All tickets are available here, and you’d really be damn foolish to miss this show when it comes through your town. Some light bean-spilling over here.
BROWN HORSE
We’re approaching Total Dive season >:) ahead of its April 10 release date, the Norwich, UK band has already shared its opening two numbers: “Sorrow Reigns” and “Twisters.” Thanks to the folks at Brooklyn Vegan, New Commute, Exclaim!, Atwood, Stereogum, Paste, and more for signing these songs’ praises. The band’s first North American tour ever begins May 02 in LA’s Permanent Records Roadhouse and ends May 20 at NYC’s Night Club 101, with a whole mess of shows in-between. Plenty of time to get lost in Brown Horse’s raucous sauce until then.
